Fenbendazole and mebendazole look similar on a chemistry diagram and they both starve some worms of glucose. They are not interchangeable milligram-for-milligram. Doses, licences, and which parasites they are meant to treat differ. Substituting a veterinary-style 222 mg tablet for a human pinworm course — or the reverse — without advice is a bad idea.
When mebendazole is the usual human choice
Threadworm (pinworm) in people is commonly treated with licensed mebendazole. Keep 222 mg tablets in the original blister or bottle, out of sunlight, and out of reach of children and pets. Accidental dosing of a dog’s leftover protocol in a child is a poison-centre call, not a wait-and-see.
