How it works
Hydroquinone reduces the formation of new melanin in the skin. Tretinoin is a retinoid that increases skin cell turnover. Fluocinolone acetonide is a mild corticosteroid included to lessen irritation. Together they are used for uneven pigmentation a clinician has chosen to treat. This is not a general skin lightener for unaffected skin.
Use only the amount and schedule a clinician prescribes. The cream is applied to the affected skin, not as a whole-body product. Daylight makes tretinoin-treated skin easier to burn, so a clinician usually pairs it with sun protection. Do not cover larger areas, or use a second tube the same day, because a larger pack arrived.
Tell a clinician about pregnancy, breastfeeding, eczema, broken skin, and other creams, especially other retinoids or steroids. Hydroquinone and tretinoin are often avoided in pregnancy. The cream can redden, peel or sting the treated skin. Stop and seek care for severe swelling, blistering, or a spreading rash. Keep away from children. Do not use it in the eyes, mouth, or on open wounds.
